If you thought Warframe is starting to run out of ideas or themes for its Warframes, well, the latest new addition to the ever-growing roster of “space ninjas” might just prove you wrong. This time around, Warframe is taking on a more spiritual approach, with its new devil-themed Warframe named Uriel, announced recently at TennoCon 2025.
Uriel, the Devil
Uriel, whose name and in-game lore are inspired by Christian religion, is also best known in the real world as Lucifer’s younger brother. As such, he’s also an archangel who, like his sibling, became “evil” according to the Christian scriptures. Hence, you can expect Uriel to also take on a similar theme and gameplay. Uriel will come packaged alongside the upcoming “The Devil’s Triad” content update and quest.
Like Oraxia, the 61st Warframe who’s spider-themed, there’s a big chance you also have to fight Uriel as some kind of event boss. Uriel will notably be featured alongside the new Protoframes for Harrow and Wisp, both of which have also taken on religious iconography and designs.
It’s not clear yet what Uriel’s abilities will look like, but the fiery and edgy design is indicative of an aggressive, if not manipulative, playstyle. Additionally, one important thing to note is that he’s going to be a big part of what happens next with Albrecht Entrati’s detour to Warframe 1999 and his involvement with the two new Protoframes could pave the way to new developments for the 1999 storyline.
Warframe Uriel Release Date
There’s no definite day or month yet, but Digital Extremes notably releases around 3-4 new non-Prime Warframes per year (typically once per quarter). For 2025, Temple was released in March, while the current latest, Oraxia, was released in June. There’s another unnanounced new Warframe for the Fall update.
That means Warframe Uriel could very well be released near the end of the year, along with a new event or content update about the Harrow and Wisp Protoframes as well as Albrecth Entrati and the continuation of his 1999 escapades. This falls well within place for the projected release date of “The Devil’s Triad” content.
Close Enough to Concept Characters
Interestingly enough, some creative players from the Warframe community. One of the closest concepts for the official Uriel that Digital Extremes decided to release was a Void Angel-type Warframe by Reddit user DrkMako back in 2022. At this point in the game, the Zariman update and Void-themed enemies were among the latest additions.
Another is a version of Uriel called the Archangel of Indifference which Warframe player Makuta_Nazo conceptualized just last year. Interestingly enough, the upcoming official Uriel from Digital Extremes also likely has ties to the Indifference or the Man in the Wall given how Albrecht Entrati is fleeing from the horrifying and godly entity. So anyone who’s a fan religious lore ought to find Warframe Uriel quite a treat.
