Last week during the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct event, Treyarch gave us a bunch of info about the Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies modes of the game. We have a better idea of Black Ops 6‘s new movement system, what the Campaign story is all about, and how the Zombies story follows the Cold War Dark Aether era. However, one thing that the developers had confirmed for the Black Ops 6 Multiplayer was the inclusion of 16 brand new maps at launch, while a recent report is suggesting that a Black Ops classic Nuketown is among those numbers.
Over the past week, Treyarch had invited many of the Call of Duty content creators and YouTubers to test the early version of the game. Besides the experience, they’ve been given info about the game, like that the death of Alex Mason in Black Ops 2 is now canon to the story.
According to MrDalekJD, a prominent Call of Duty Zombies content creator, they’ve seen all the 16 maps that Treyarch has cooked for Black Ops 6, except for one of them that was covered as Redacted. This is while the images and art of that supposedly unknown map were yelling Nuketown in a rusty tone.
If the confirmation of the content creators about the return of the Black Ops classic Nuketown isn’t enough, we’ve got one more piece of info here. During the Direct event showcasing Black Ops 6 and its new features, the name Nuketown is clearly shown on one of the monitors. Take a look at the screenshot for yourself below:
The image is blurry since it’s in the background there for just a few seconds. But one can clearly confirm that the title under the mode and map selection button is Nuketown.
How Is Classic Nuketown Map “New” In Black Ops 6?
So with all that info, how is the return of Nuketown considered a fresh piece for the upcoming Black Ops entry? Treyarch has announced that 16 “brand new” maps are coming to this game at launch, and, well, Nuketown isn’t new.
This leaves us with two theories about Nuketown’s return to Black Ops 6: 1. Nuketown has received a complete remake treatment for its glorious return. 2. The map is expanded by including new areas; like we had Crash in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is due to release on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on October 25, 2024.
