After some delay, open-world space RPG The Outer Worlds is coming to Nintendo Switch on June 5. The release will be available both physically and digitally.
The Outer Worlds comes from Obsidian Entertainment, the developers of Pillars of Eternity and Fallout: New Vegas. The game is in many ways a spiritual successor to Fallout, as a first-person narrative-based role-playing game but has some slight twists.

Instead of being in a dreary post-apocalypse, you are on a futuristic space colony. Several different corporations the space colony, and it is your choice to either help or hinder them.
The Outer Worlds was originally set to release on Switch March 6 but was delayed due to the coronavirus. The developers of the port, Virtuos, had their Shanghai offices closed but have since reopened.
The Outer Worlds Will Come on Physical Cartridge
In addition to the delay, the publisher Private Division confirmed that the physical release of the game comes on a cartridge. There will be a day one patch to optimize gameplay and improve textures.
The day one patch is set at around 6 GB, so make sure you have some free space on your system before you play.
In many ways, The Outer Worlds is perfect for Switch. Having the opportunity to play this expansive space RPG anywhere makes and at home on the big screen is the best of both worlds.
The game is a slower-paced experience as you explore and fight creatures. The conversation systems make it relatively easy to play in handheld mode.
The Outer Worlds will release on June 5, and cost $59.99 on digital and physical. Right now it is not available to pre-order on the Nintendo eShop, and no clear mention of how large the full download will be.
