A new trailer has dropped for the upcoming sequel/reboot for the Predator franchise. The film looks to jumpstart the dormant franchise after numerous lackluster iterations leading up to the long break. The trailer was released by 20th Century Fox and can be viewed below.
The second trailer for The Predator hopes to put a new spin on the franchise by giving up the jungle settings for a suburban area. The trailer boasts a focus on action and horror which is reminiscent of the older Predator films. The trailer gives us a better look at the actual Predator that the characters will be going up against. It seems that The Predator’s strongest area is its star-studded cast which includes: Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us), Keegan Michael Key (Key & Peele), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), and Olivia Munn (X-Men Apocalypse).
The Predator is directed by Shane Black who is most notably known for his work on Iron Man 3 and the beloved flop, The Nice Guys. Black has experience with the Predator franchise as he actually costarred in a Predator film back in 1987.
The official synopsis for the movie is as follows:
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.
The Predator will hit theatres on September 14th, 2018. Furthermore, you can look forward to more news and information on the movie as it is confirmed to have a presence at San Diego Comic Con this upcoming July.
