Ever since we saw the announcement of DOOM: The Dark Ages we’ve been overwhelmed by excitement and curiosity for this new DOOM adventure. While there have been many trailers to show us the over-the-top demon-slaying antics, the recent previews have given us a bigger and better glimpse at what we can expect. In short, we can take the Futurama meme of “shut up and take my money,” and it would fit perfectly here. By the early look, DOOM: The Dark Ages looks like the most amazing game of the franchise and might become the best fast-paced FPS of the year.
DOOM: The Dark Ages Previews Confirm One Thing: It is the Ultimate DOOM Fantasy
If you weren’t aware, several outlets had the chance to play DOOM: The Dark Ages and shared previews of their own. As expected, all of them praise the game’s combat. While it moves away from the previous run-and-gun antics, it seems the Slayer’s shield is the new deadly addition that is both a game-changer and one of the most satisfying armaments the Slayer has wielded. On top of that, the DOOM: The Dark Ages brings a Mecha-Slayer and a Dragon you can use to obliterate any fiend that crosses your way.
Furthermore, The Dark Ages seems to include many sandbox elements that will let you tackle the Slayer’s newest task however you want. This sounds quite freeing and might be one of the best additions to the game. In a way, this entry caters to many different fans. If you’re into fast-paced combat, it will be perfect for you. Would you rather pilot a mecha and go Pacific Rim on some demons? That’s possible, too. DOOM: The Dark Ages brings fun to hell, which is quite weird, but if someone can pull that off, it is id Software.
An Excellent Starting Point for New Slayer

In truth, we all were already excited about The Dark Ages, but we’re even more hyped now. While the previews weren’t long, the few clips we’ve seen have just increased our thirst for the good old over-the-top action we love from the series. However, what is really the greatest takeaway from the preview is that it seems like the perfect starting point for new fans.
If you didn’t know, DOOM: The Dark Ages is a prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. So, in terms of storytelling, this will be an excellent place to begin your journey. And, in gameplay aspects, this title seems like the best in the franchise, so a mind-blowing experience for rookies is almost guaranteed.
For now, we can only wait for the game’s imminent release, which, fortunately, isn’t too far away. If you haven’t, there’s still time to pre-order the game. Also, if you get the Premium Edition, you can start your demon-bashing quests two days early, so that’s something worth considering when looking at which version to buy.
