Marvel is promising the Resurrection of Magneto in a new teaser for NYCC. This new project is helmed by writer Al Ewing and artist Luciano Vecchio. The announcement, posted on Marvel’s social media, reveals that the Master of Magnetism is returning right in the middle of the X-Men’s darkest hour. Unfortunately, that is all we know so far about Magneto’s impending resurrection. This new project is just one of many the publisher promises to reveal during NYCC’s “Marvel’s Next Big Thing” panel.

Magneto was last seen fighting the good fight for mutant kind during the Judgement Day crossover event. In a particularly grueling battle with Uranos, the Master of Magnetism was able to fend off the Eternal. However, it cost the longtime Marvel character his own life. He ended up dying in Storm’s arms during the events of X-Men Red #7. To make matters worse, his Cerebro backup that allows for mutant resurrection was erased. Therefore, this death seemed to be the one that would stick.

Of course, this is Marvel we are talking about, and death is never truly the end. Currently, Magneto is starring in a limited series that explores the mutant’s past and his turn from villain to hero. Now, it looks like Magneto can add “master of death” to his resume as he plans a big comeback to help his fellow mutants in their time of need. However, how will the resurrection of Magneto play out in this new landscape for mutants?

The Resurrection Of Magneto

Currently, mutant-kind is in turmoil with the Fall of X event. The anti-mutant organization Orchis has launched a full-scale attack against all mutants on Earth and beyond. Many of Marvel’s mutant heroes are dead, missing, or in hiding from a relentless group willing to do anything to eradicate all mutants. There has never been a better time for Magneto and his cunning ways of war to return.

Alongside this new project, the “Marvel’s Next Big Thing” panel promises to reveal new projects, including the recently announced Fall of the House of X and Rise of the Powers of X., as well as Avengers: Twilight.
