A new Royal Family member is on their way, which is doubtless a thrilling announcement for everyone at the Palace and the parents, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. However, such a pleasing report can turn into a disaster when someone on the royals’ official social media team bombs the post announcing the good news. In a now-deleted post on X, formally known as Twitter, The Royal Family (@RoyalFamily) made a rare and embarrassing error, turning Princess Beatrice’s exciting announcement into a laughingstock for those following the account on X.
The original post read, “Her Royal Highess Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together early in the new year; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna.” As anyone with a quick eye will notice, the poster misspelled ‘Highness,’ instead going with the rather comical typo ‘Highess.’
Of course, this mistake was quickly revised, as the original post was deleted and replaced with one that had the correct spelling of “Her Royal Highness.” However, the post didn’t go down quietly. Caught by Daily Mail before the post’s deletion, X user @genevalaitis replied to the announcement with, “Do they not read what they wrote before they posted?” Although a bit sarcastic, the inquiry does strike the question of whether those running the official social media team for The Royal Family understand how spellcheck programs work or if they need to return to the days of spelling bees.
While this is a notable blunder for The Royal Family’s X/Twitter account to make, it doesn’t compare to the ongoing drama between King Charles and Prince Harry. Thankfully, things have been looking up with Kate Middleton’s positive recovery. Let’s hope the Duchess of York’s next child won’t be born into the madness and, instead, a peaceful Royal Family that has its ducks in a row.
