  • How to Boost Descendant Skill Element and Arche

Once you start getting Rare Reactors in The First Descendant, you’re going to be bombarded with information and tooltips that the game won’t explicitly explain. Soon enough, you’ll start wondering what ‘Fusion’ Skills or ‘Singular’ Skills are. Those words are your ticket to a more powerful Descendant. Here’s how to understand them using our The First Descendant skill guide and explanation. This covers the types and elements along with how to boost them.

The First Descendant Skill Arche Types & Elements

Each Descendant in The First Descendant comes with five skills (four active, one passive), and these skills have certain categories attached to them, called Arche. Each skill is classified based on its nature but it doesn’t matter what these skills do for them to be classified as such, you only need to remember their skill Arche type.

So far these are the skill Arche or categories in The First Descendant:

  • Singular
  • Fusion
  • Dimension
  • Tech

Additionally, each Descendant comes with a set Element.

  • Fire
  • Electric
  • Chill
  • Toxin
  • Non-Attribute (non-elemental)

However, Elements are much simpler than Arche Types since right now, Descendants only come in one Element. Arche Types, on the other hand, are more complex since certain Descendants might have skills that come in two or more different Arche Types.

The trick is knowing where your Descendants’ skills fall into. Here’s how to check:

  1. Open the Descendant List (‘H’ on PC)
  2. If you’re on a console, open the Inventory and select the Descendant List tab.
  3. Place the cursor over the Descendant Skill icons on the upper left side. The tooltip will indicate the Element and Arche Type of the skill.

From here, you can then formulate or plan out which Reactors and External Components are more valuable to you based on the Descendant you’re playing. This way, you’ll know which Reactors and External Components to scrap and to keep.

How to Boost Descendant Skill Element and Arche

You’ll mostly get your damage and skill boost from Reactors. The key is knowing which Reactor name boosts which Arche Type in conjunction with an element. Refer to this table for your farming guide for Reactors:

Element / Arche TypeSingular (Singularity)Dimension (Phase)Fusion (Mixture)Tech (Mechanics)
Toxin (Toxic)Toxic SingularityToxic PhaseToxic MixtureToxic Mechanics
Electric (Tingling)Tingling SingularityTingling PhaseTingling MixtureTingling Mechanics
Non-Attribute (Materialized)Materialized SingularityMaterialized PhaseMaterialized MixtureMaterialized Mechanics
Chill (Frozen)Chill SingularityFrozen PhaseMaterialized MixtureFrozen Mechanics
Fire (Burning)Burning SingularityBurning PhaseBurning MixtureBurning Mechanics

Thus, farming Reactors is a matter of looking at their name combination, but do aim for the Ultimate-rarity Reactors and the ones with a weapon mounting requirement for the weapon you actually use.
