Previously released in 2011, the game has you playing the titular role of Geralt of Rivia and is inspired by the fantasy novels of the same name.

The Witcher 2 was previously free to download within the Games With Gold promotion in January 2015 but this is the first time the game has been available as part of the backwards compatibility program.

This special treat comes with more good news from Microsoft as they have announced a new batch of titles which will now work on the Xbox One. Microsoft has also stated that future backwards compatible games will be accessible as soon as they are ready instead of having to wait for monthly updates.
