Henry Cavill might be out, but the future is growing for the Netflix fantasy world that he led. Laurence Fishburne has joined the cast of The Witcher for season 4 as Regis. The popular character originated in the first novel, Baptism of Fire. The barber-surgeon joins Geralt (formerly Cavill, now Liam Hemsworth) for adventures.
It is scorched Earth after the end of season 3. Geralt, Ciri (Freya Allan), and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) must go through the dangerous war-torn lands to continue their journey. On the way, they will meet new enemies and some new allies.
Laurence Fishburne Is Regis in The Witcher Season 4
The Netflix announcement gives a major boost of enthusiasm to the series as fans are wary of its new leading man. His announcement came when it looked like he would reprise his role as Superman after a cameo in Black Adam. It did not come to fruition, and he was already being replaced as Geralt. No official reasons are known, but speculation is all over the place, from his frustration with the direction of the series to other commitments, like Warhammer.
Laurence Fishburne adds significant star power to The Witcher. He has had a successful, diverse career. One of his earliest roles was in Apocalypse Now, but his claim to fame was in The Matrix trilogy. From there, he would appear in the John Wick movies, Ant-Man and the Wasp, CSI, Hannibal, Black-ish, and more.
The next season of The Witcher is an adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s third novel in the series. How fans will react to further changes that the show has made, like Hemsworth taking on the role of protagonist, are yet to be seen. The next season has no release date but could be released in either 2024 or 2025.
