“The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting”: A Large Soar in Popularity
Kaiten Books has licensed Tsukiya’s manga series and has currently released the manga’s third volume. The company currently describes the story as follows;
Kirishima Tooru is as vicious a yakuza as they come, to the point where he’s earned the nickname “the demon of Sakuragi”. One day the boss of the Sakuragoi family suddenly summons Kirishima and appoints him as the caretaker of his only daughter Yaeka! A heartwarming comedy about a yakuza’s crime family’s right-hand man and the boss’ only daughter. The two of them are about to spend their daily lives together!
Tsukiya first launched The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting in June 2018 on the Comic Ride pixiv site. Micro Magazine published the eighth volume on July 11th. The manga was nominated for the 5th Next Manga Awards in the digital category and placed 15th out of 50. Most recently, the manga has celebrated over one million copies in circulation. This is also thanks to the popularity gained from the anime, which added roughly 500,000 more copies after its streaming release. Currently, the series is remembered as one of the standouts from its streaming season.
