If your idea of ‘big games’ is still Fortnite and Steam games, then the Roblox audience will scramble your brain. This year, two surprise hits pushed Roblox to record-smashing CCU — or concurrent users — outpacing even the most popular gaming storefront of all time. With one more dark horse into the fray, expect the leaderboard to shift as millions swarm the next shiny hotness.
The whole Roblox-wide record CCU hit around 47.4 million users last month. It topped Steam’s all-time peak of 41.2 million in March early this year. That’s not all, as individual Roblox games are now posting peaks that used to be unthinkable anywhere. An idle farming game, Grow a Garden, alone topped 22.3 million concurrent users on August 23, 2025. That’s more online users than 18 million people living in the Netherlands!
Steal a Brainrot then one-upped it, surging to 24 million this month, helped by a viral ‘admin rivalry’ that turned curiosity into a platform-shaking surge. Both exceed Fortnite‘s record of 15.3 million CCU during the December 2020 Galactus event.

Another Roblox newcomer, 99 Nights in the Forest, actually jumped ahead of both in today’s live peak CCU. It’s currently enjoyed by roughly 2 million players and is still trending upward. So don’t be shocked if that real-time surge creeps even higher by tonight.
According to data from Romonitorstats and Rolimons, Roblox‘s Top 10 CCU hits are definitely nothing to scoff at. Before these 2025 megaspikes rewrote the leaderboards, the One Piece-inspired Blox Fruits shattered records on New Year’s Eve 2024 with 2.78 million active players. Even Black Myth: Wukong and Palworld‘s peak on Steam only topped 2.4 and 2.1 million players, respectively.

These massive CCU or active player numbers are proof that Roblox‘s crowd isn’t just big — it’s restless. One update or viral game drops, and boom, everyone bee-lines to the next shiny thing. Even with ugly headlines and allegations, the stampede barely slows. Here’s hoping it actually starts employing stricter moderation and real enforcement to keep its enormous fanbase safe.
