Thinking With Portals: Where To Find the Strange Door in Once Human

Deviations are weird organisms that can help you in combat and make your life easier. While there are essential ones that will automate your base, there are also lesser-known creatures that can provide quality-of-life items like the Strange Door. This Strange Door Deviation is essential for crafting a Portal in Once Human, a teleporting device with, unfortunately, limited capabilities. Still, it looks quite nice and mystical enough to spruce up your post-apocalyptic home.

Once Human: Where Can You Find Strange Door Deviations?

True to its name, a Strange Door can appear in any of the Doors Puzzle locations. Doors Puzzles are places where you can interact with a Strange Inscription on a scarecrow to activate magical, color-coded doors. Entering the right door will reward you with a Loot Crate. Nevertheless, you can go through the wrong doors and retry the puzzle countless times until you get it right.

So far, we have found three Door Puzzle spots where you can farm the Deviation. Besides these locations, defeating Shadow Hound Rift Space could drop the Deviation:

1. Broken Delta at 4375, -6467 coordinates. 460 meters south of Gaia Cliff Monolith Teleportation Tower.
   • Puzzle solution: Enter the orange, purple, then black door; in order.
   • Special reward: Mid-Range Optic.
2. Iron River at 6619, -3670 coordinates. South of Ricci Securement Point 1, 400 meters from either of the nearest Teleportation Towers.
   • Puzzle solution: Enter the black door.
   • Special reward: Reflex Sight.
3. Blackheart Region at 4005, 147 coordinates. 700 meters from Sunshine Farm Teleportation Tower.
   • Puzzle solution: Enter the blue door.
   • Special reward: Extended Pistol Mag.

However, do keep in mind that the Strange Door Deviation in Once Human has a very low chance of spawning. Not to mention that aside from Strange Door, the Space Turner Deviation can also show up instead.

As usual, you can try jumping between Worlds to force either of them to spawn. In our experience, we had to travel in all three Doors Puzzle spots through all 10 Worlds just to get two Space Turners and one Strange Door.

How Strange Door and Portal Can Be Useful for Your Base

Afterward, put the Deviation inside a Containment Unit to produce Shattered Strange Door, the material for making a Portal in Once Human. Both floor and wall Portals can be found in the “Facilities” > “Function Facilities” menu in Build Mode, requiring these materials to be crafted:

• Shattered Strange Door x20.
• Acid x4.
• Glass x3.
• Steel Ingot x20.

The Strange Door Portal can only be placed in your own Once Human Territories; basically it works as an elevator that can go up-down-and-sideways. It has 1,000 Durability but every time you use it, it will eat 20 Durability points. As long as you repair them and keep them in tip-top shape, you can use the Portals infinitely. Unfortunately, the Strange Door Portal cannot be built on a Truck and you can’t teleport between your stationary and moving bases.
