It’s often assumed that people who experience racism themselves would never direct it toward others, but unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. There are instances where members of minority groups engage in racist behavior toward other minorities.
One such example involved a Black security guard in Texas who works at a nightclub. He found himself on the receiving end of a racist tirade from a group of Hispanic patrons. While it wasn’t clear what happened before he began recording or what initially sparked the confrontation, the group was clearly upset about something.
In the video, the man can be seen pointing at them and laughing as they continued to hurl insults in his direction. Despite the hostility, he appeared to remain calm and unbothered, choosing to document the interaction rather than escalate it.
The incident sparked discussion online about how racism can exist across different communities and how prejudice, regardless of who it comes from, is harmful and unacceptable.
In the video, the confrontation quickly turned racist. A Hispanic woman was heard calling the Black security guard a monkey. “Why are you laughing, monkey?” she asked, as he continued pointing at her and laughing it off.
Another woman then stepped in and began using different variations of the n-word. Despite the abuse, the security guard remained composed and continued laughing. The only time he intervened was when one of the women got too close, calmly telling her not to touch him.
The two women then stood directly in front of him and continued their tirade, once again calling him a slave. Other people could be heard shouting in the background, though their words were unclear.
At one point, the guard appeared to say to one of the women, “Your man is bleeding.” He later explained in a comment that the situation began after security removed the women’s boyfriends from the club. According to him, they became angry about how their partners were escorted out, started fighting with security, and lost the confrontation.
“They are saying all that because we kicked their bfs out the club,” he wrote. “They didn’t like the way we did it, so they started fighting security. It became a little rumble (obviously security won), and they were still kicked out. This was them getting mad.”
Despite the incident, the guard made it clear he was unfazed. In the caption, he wrote, “This security lifestyle not for everybody, but it’s definitely for me.”
Many viewers praised his calm response, saying he handled an ugly situation with professionalism and restraint while exposing how racism can come from any background.
People Reacting to the Black Texas Man Facing Racism
Many people, especially within the Black community, were deeply upset by the racism the Texas security guard faced. Because the group involved was Hispanic, some commenters reacted by suggesting he should have contacted immigration authorities. “Should’ve called ICE and cleared the scene,” one person wrote. Another replied, “They would’ve scattered like roaches.”
Others said the video reinforced their belief that they should not feel obligated to defend Hispanic communities when it comes to ICE-related issues. “And this is why ICE ain’t our fight,” one commenter wrote.
When a Hispanic woman attempted to argue that her community treats Black people well, she was met with strong pushback. One person responded, “We don’t go around doing y’all people like this. But there are plenty of videos and comments showing y’all doing exactly that. Some of y’all pretend like you like us, but your true colors always come out.”
The exchange highlighted how incidents like this can deepen tensions between communities, with many viewers expressing frustration that racism continues to surface even among groups that face discrimination themselves.
More people from the Black community continued defending the Texas security guard, though some of the responses also crossed into racist territory toward Hispanics. “Most Mexicans voted Trump because they thought Trump would go after Black people instead of them,” one person claimed. Another wrote, “This is why I’m not protesting.”
At the same time, many viewers focused on praising the guard for how he handled the situation. “I love your response because only you make those words mean anything. It’s about time we stop allowing these words to affect us. They are meaningless,” one person commented. “Do you see how quick they resort to those names?”
Many agreed that he showed remarkable composure and professionalism in the face of abuse, handling the situation far better than most people would have. Still, others emphasized that no one should ever have to endure racist harassment in the first place, regardless of how well they respond to it.
