In a clip that almost felt scripted for how unbelievable it was, a Missouri grandma exited her TikTok live stream when a Black creator joined in. The exchange from the live stream went viral and showed that once the man joined in, the grandma shook her head in disagreement and waved at the screen, saying, “Bye-bye. No. Go away.”
In the video, which can be seen here, the Black creator thought she was waving to greet him. When he realized what was actually going on, he playfully asked if the granny did not like Black: “You don’t like chocolate?” The grandma shook her head again to confirm that she did not want him on the call. The Black creator kept trying to joke about changing the woman’s mind about Black people, but she stated that she would exit the live stream if he didn’t.
Pretending he was trying to find a way to go off, the creator continued to engage her, asking if she was enjoying the holidays. The granny simply was not having it, as she bid her viewers goodbye and tapped the screen multiple times to exit the live stream. He then joked about how hard she was tapping the screen, as the taps could be heard on both sides, and her camera was shaking with each tap. In a follow-up video, the man explained that the grandma had invited him to the live stream in the first place. He also added that the video got taken down and the granny had made her account private.
Missouri Supports The Creator And Sharp Condemnation Erupt In The Comments
Netizens stormed the comment section with an intense wave of empathy and community solidarity, calling for swift accountability. Many users highlighted the striking contrast between the creator’s courtesy and the reaction he received from the grandma. Others lamented how comfortable individuals have become, casually throwing racial biases publicly.
An empathetic user wrote, “This is so hard to watch. You were so nice to her.” Another user shared that the sight left them broken-hearted, highlighting how unfairly the grandma treated the man who only offered kindness. Many more netizens pointed out how respectfully the man treated the woman despite her behavior, with one confessing that the creator exhibited a level of self-control they would not have if they were in the same position. A couple of TikTokers voiced their frustration with the recent display of how brazenly people exhibit discriminatory behavior.”You were so nice and polite too 😣 people need to stop being so mean to each other, racism is the worst thing to ever exist,” an individual wrote.
Missouri communities did not shy away from establishing a firm boundary against online disrespect and applauded the creator for maintaining his composure even in the face of discrimination.
