Thunder Lotus Games, the developer behind the gorgeous and tactfully sentimental management adventure Spiritfarer, has shared a content roadmap detailing three upcoming updates set to land throughout 2021.

The developer plans to launch the updates at regular intervals in Spring, Summer, and, finally, Autumn. The updates will all be free on PC and consoles for those who’ve already laid down cash for Spiritfarer. They’ll include a host of new spirits (read characters), story content, buildings, resources, and improvements.

Spiritfarer 2021 Content Roadmap

The first Spiritfarer update, dubbed the Lily Update, introduces the eponymous Lily, sister to protagonist and ferry master Stella, embodied as a flutter of butterflies. Active at night, Lily will act as a beacon of light, both figuratively and literally: brightening up Stella’s life and illuminating the ferry’s path in the dark. This Spring update for Spiritfarer also brings other changes, including a spruced up UI and cooperative fishing.

Moving on to Summer, we have the Beverly Update. Erstwhile neighbor to Stella and more than a little lonely, Beverly joins the crew – if only to reminisce about days gone by. In tow, a new Archive Room station, home to a brand new set of Acetate Sheet collectibles, and more quality of life improvements.

Finally, Autumn will usher in the Spiritfarer Jackie & Daria Update. With a new island to explore, the two titular spirits to befriend, new boat buildings, new resources, and a new event, this update sounds the more substantial of the three. Over to Thunder Lotus for a brief story snippet:

“Out of the blue, Stella receives coordinates for a new island that houses a run-down hospital. There, she’ll meet two spirits: Jackie, the caretaker, and Daria, his main patient. Seeing that Jackie is overworked, Stella decides to lend him a hand.”

Thunder Lotus hasn’t quite settled on firm release dates but says we can expect more details as the year moves on. If you fancy a meatier taste of what’s to come, Thunder Lotus penned a blog post over their website with more details alongside lovely animated art of the characters headed to Spiritfarer.
