A recent comment on Tia Mowry‘s new reality show is raising eyebrows. In a preview for Tia Mowry: My Next Act, which debuts on Oct. 6, the actress, who is famously a twin, makes a comment about her relationship with her sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley.
Tia Feels ‘Alone’ amid Emotional Divorce
In a clip shared by Entertainment Tonight ahead of the premiere, Tia opens up in a confessional about working through the emotions of her divorce from ex Cory Hardrict.
The former couple announced the end of their 14 year marriage in October 2022, with the divorce being finalized the following April.
“The family dynamic of having a mom and a dad in one household. When you’re dropping your kids off, you actually visually see how that’s no longer,” Tia begins through tears.
Then, she casually drops what felt like a bombshell for longtime fans of the actress.
Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce. It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now.
The clip doesn’t show Tia elaborating on the reason there may be estrangement between the twins.
Tamera Hinted at the Same Earlier This Year
At an event in May, Tamera Mowry-Housley was asked by Entertainment Tonight if she’d consider playing matchmaker for her newly single twin.
See this is the thing, Tia is living her life right now and Tia is doing Tia. I feel like she doesn’t want any of our input right now and I can only respect that. I think she is doing her.
She also admitted that she had no idea that her sister was filming Tia Mowry: My Next Act with WeTV. Asked if she’d appear, she made it clear she had just learned the news.
I didn’t know until I found out with the rest of the world… She didn’t ask me. She didn’t, so I take that as no.
The news that there’s a possible distance or riff between the twins is a tough one for longtime fans to bear. There’s a ton of speculation on what may have led to this moment. That said, no one but the two of them knows the truth of the matter.
Everyone goes through different stages in life where they need space and others where they need support. The sisters may not align right now, but there’s hope that the future holds better days.
