Following the news that developer Ubisoft will no longer be supporting the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, they revealed a new trailer and release date for the upcoming Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.
Considered to be the successor to cancelled Rainbow Six Patriots, Ubisoft Montreal’s new first person shooter is breaching and clearing its way for an October 13, 2015 release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The new game offers players the chance to control one of 20 operators, all with special skill sets tailor making the experience to fit different play styles.
The first seven unveiled operators are named Sledge, who focuses around swinging his breach hammer on the front lines, Mute a signals intelligence specialist, Smoke who mostly deals in chemical gas, Thatcher who relies heavily on technology like EMP grenades, Thermite the demolitions expert, Castle famous for his reinforcement barriers and lastly Ash who produces a weapon mounted breach charge capable of blowing down walls.
This game is largely inspired by real world counter terrorist organisations and puts players in real life, well virtual life, close quarters confrontations.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will retail at £49.99. In addition there will also be a Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Art of the Siege Edition including a collectors box, an exclusive 120 page tactical guide, and gold weapon skins retailing at £59.99. Pricing details and special editions have yet to be announced for the U.S., but we’ll keep you updated on further information.
With Ubisoft now fully focusing on the next generation, expectations will no doubt rise for games like Rainbow Six and The Division, which has been delayed into 2016. The Ubisoft E3 press conference will take place on June 15 at 3pm PST / 6pm EST and Ubisoft should have additional information for us then. Will you be pre-ordering Rainbow Six Siege?
