Cinephiles have been all about the upcoming double feature of Barbie and Oppenheimer, and even Tom Cruise is all about it. This morning the Mission: Impossible actor tweeted some pictures of him with collaborator Christopher McQuarrie holding their tickets in front of posters for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the upcoming Greta Gerwig film, and Christopher Nolan’s J. Robert Oppenheimer biopic (seen below).
Summer is the time for blockbusters, which the Top Gun actor is known for. He wrote, “this summer is full of amazing movies to see in theaters.” He congratulated Harrison Ford on “40 years of Indy.” He described the character as “one of the most iconic characters in history.” In another paragraph, Tom Cruise wrote about his enthusiasm for a double feature, writing that it didn’t get more “explosive (or more pink) than one with Oppenheimer and Barbie.”
Tom Cruise Loved the Barbie and Oppenheimer Double Feature
This summer is full of amazing movies to see in theaters.
Congratulations, Harrison Ford, on 40 years of Indy and one of the most iconic characters in history.
I love a double feature, and it doesn't get more explosive (or more pink) than one with Oppenheimer and Barbie. pic.twitter.com/udWHHj4fAe

The actor has always been known for his love for movies and the theatrical experience. The push for Top Gun: Maverick rejuvenated people’s feelings about seeing a movie on the biggest screen possible with strangers from their community. Since then, he has given his love to other blockbuster films.
Tom Cruise has not been the only one to talk about the double feature of Barbie and Oppenheimer this July. The movies releasing on July 21 have kicked up excitement from moviegoers, leading to memes and conversations about seeing the two films back-to-back. While competition can split films, people seem enthusiastic about seeing the polar opposite films to get that Nolan-style and go into the vibrant Barbie World.
This summer will get busy, making the box office performances of the big releases to be interesting. As theater attendance has been down since the pandemic, it is up in the air how Oppenheimer, Indiana Jones, Barbie, and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will affect one another. Ford will return to his iconic role this week (June 30), giving it some room before Dead Reckoning (July 12) and then the anticipated double feature on July 21.
