Tom Cruise passes out filming intense stunts for Mission: Impossible- Final Reckoning, the latest installment of his American action film series. The action legend has made waves for his looks in recent days, following his youthful appearance in his high-profile Super Bowl commercial. Several fans pointed out that the star looked noticeably different in the Super Bowl ad, compared to the Tom Cruise fans have grown accustomed to. Ultimately speculations about him surgically altering his appearance flared, with most suggesting the actor’s “stretched” face must have some AI effect. While the source of his newfound youth remains debated, more bewildering is that the 62-year-old has the stamina and flexibility to go with it.
In a recent interview with Empire, Tom Cruise discussed the strength and willpower put into filming his upcoming blockbuster, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, without a stunt double. The actor admitted some of the scenes were so intense that it took a toll on him physically, nearly resulting in severe consequences. Recounting a particular scene that had him holding onto an airborne 1930s biplane, the icon divulged,
“When you stick your face out, going over 120 to 130 miles an hour, you’re not getting oxygen. So I had to train myself how to breathe. There were times I would pass out physically; I was unable to get back into the cockpit.”
Tom Cruise Performed a Stunt Unlike Any Other on Upcoming Mission Impossible Flick

Mission: Impossible writer and director Christopher McQuarrie had nothing but praise for Tom Cruise’s “remarkable” performance in the upcoming action film. He echoed the actor’s description of his daring stunts in the film, saying,
“There are stunts that will melt your brain. There would be a day in Africa – any day in Africa – where Tom would go out and do something that topped anything he had ever done before.”
The director admitted that “thinking about the stress” involved in some of Tom Cruise’s stunts on Mission” Impossible – The Last Reckoning made him want to puke. He went on to describe the scenes as intense.
This is hardly the first time the 62-year-old would risk his life on the set of the action flick. While filming 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Tom Cruise performed the HALO jump, a stunt reserved for military special forces. The HALO stunt, an acronyn for High Altitude, Low Opening required the actor to jump off a high-altitude moving plane, and only open his parachute at 800 feet from the ground. Cruise admitted to filming 100 takes, before perfecting the scene.
Admittedly, the actor had issues with his breathing while performing the stunt. To beat the risk of losing oxygen during the high altitude sky dive, the show creators made a special helmet, which served as a wind shield and an oxygen mask while executing the stunt. Typical of Cruise’s protocol, he strives to perform his stunts himself despite the risks involved, making things as real as possible. Little wonder the action series has a cult following after three decades and counting, despite the actor’s evolving age.
