Hollywood A-Lister Tom Cruise has a strange sense of humor, according to his Top Gun: Maverick co-star Glen Powell. He admits that working with the film icon left him with mixed emotions. But he won’t forget how one of Tom’s sick jokes, in particular, terrified him.
Tom Cruise has often been described as an amazing actor. However, according to one of his recent co-stars, Glen Powell, he could improve his sense of humor. Glen is known for taking his acting career very seriously. Because of this, he admits he has been the butt of a few jokes. However, it was one sick prank pulled on him by Top Gun: Maverick star Tom Cruise that went a little too far.
Fox News reports that Glen Powell recalls a trip back to London following a reshoot during the Top Gun filming. He says Tom offered to fly them both back in his helicopter. He then claims that Cruise begins to act panicked out of the blue and starts shouting, “Oh, No! Oh, No!”
He adds that Tom started dropping the helicopter over London. “I was like, ‘Am I about to be the unnamed guy that dies with Tom in a smoking hole in the middle of London?'” But it was all a joke, and Tom Cruise found it hilarious, but Glen Powell claims it was terrifying.
Glen Powell Says Tom Cruise Is Quite The Prankster
Who would have thought that the serious-looking actor had such a funny side? However, according to Powell, this is not the only time that Tom Cruise pulled one over on him. Glen describes another tamer incident where the actor got the best of him again.
Glen Powell says Tom ordered him to attend a theater in Los Angeles, California, this time. He told him it was to watch a ‘film school” movie he had put together for a few select friends.
To his surprise and likely aggravation, he claims he was the only guest in the theater. He also says he was forced to spend the next six hours watching Tom Cruise discuss everything he knows about filmmaking. According to Powell, Cruise had no intention of putting it out to the public but instead said, “This is just for my friends.”
In the end, Glen Powell admits that he and Tom Cruise are good friends and share many similar interests, especially when it comes to making movies. So, despite all the torture Tom put him through, he says he feels a lot of gratitude for him. It sounds like he survived the worked Tom Cruise hazing, but he may want to stay on high alert should he ever co-star alongside the actor again.
