So far, Genshin Impact 4.0 has been filled to the brim with content. Being the start of a major patch cycle, this expansion brings players into the world of Fontaine. With new quests, enemies, and characters, the Hydro region has players exploring every nook and cranny. However, even the most stalwart of players are bound to miss a couple of details. Due to Genshin Impact 4.0’s new zone, undiscovered secrets can be hidden virtually everywhere, waiting to be found. While some of these details may be small, others are massive references to other HoYoverse games. Here are five Genshin Impact 4.0 Fontaine Easter Eggs and references you may have missed.
Genshin Impact 4.0 Holds A Poetry Easter Egg
(Updated on October 11, 2024 – updated links and format)
First, we have a simple Genshin Impact 4.0 Easter Egg that hides in the title of one of Fontaine’s Archon Quests. Chapter IV, Act II of the storyline is titled, “As Light Rain Falls Without Reason,” which on already sounds dramatic enough. However, Reddit user Cheap_Reputation_787 that this title may be a reference to a French poem titled, “Il pleure dans mon cœur” which translates to “Tears fall in my heart.” Since the Genshin Impact 4.0’s Fontaine region takes some inspiration from France, this reference helps add some extra layers to its world-building. Additionally, many more titles to quests could have references similar to this one that hasn’t been discovered.
A Big Honkai Star Rail Reference is Right in Genshin 4.0
Next, Genshin Impact 4.0 holds a massive Honkai Star Rail Easter Egg hiding right in plain sight. Although it occupies very little in the original cutscene, a piece of paper is shown entering a slot in a very dramatic fashion. This may seem like a small detail to focus on, however, when played side-by-side with Honkai Star Rail’s Warping animation, the two scenes line up almost exactly. While this may be a case of recycled animation, a Reddit user points out that it could be a case of sneaky advertisement. In the end, though it could just be a coincidence, it’s great seeing both games are still so closely intertwined.
Sitting on the Archon’s Throne
While the Archon’s Throne normally sits out of reach, a clever player has managed to do what seemed impossible. By utilizing many different skills, including both Venti’s and Zhongli’s Elemental Skills, the player was able to make it to the throne area in the Opera Epiclese. As it turns out, they were able to sit on the throne, claiming it for themself. While this isn’t exactly a Genshin Impact 4.0 Easter Egg, it’s a neat little detail that most players probably missed out on. Plus, potentially in the future, a throne like this will be available as craftable furniture for all players to enjoy.
An Easter Egg Hides In Genshin Impact 4.0’s Fountain of Lucine
One of the more unsettling Easter Eggs comes from a secret interaction with Genshin Impact 4.0’s Fountain of Lucine. This fountain allows players to redeem their Hydro Sigils for various rewards. However, when standing inside the fountain, players were able to hear something strange. Inside, a weeping voice calls out, lamenting about their loneliness. Some players have theorized that this may be Oratrice, created from a part of the Archon herself. Although this seems like a strong theory, hopefully, it will be confirmed during a later patch.
A Small Monty Python Easter Egg Hides In Genshin 4.0’s Dialogue
Finally, arguably the best Easter Egg in all of Genshin Impact 4.0 is a subtle nod to a classic Monty Python bit. When approaching a group of Oceanids, and listening to their dialogue, they begin arguing about the merits of governments. One of the Oceanids even exclaims, “Come see the repression inherent in the system! Help! Help! Al’s repressing me!” For those that don’t know, this is almost the same as a line from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. In this scene, a peasant exclaims, “Come see the repression inherent in the system! Help! Help! I’m being repressed!” As you can see, the two lines are too similar to be a coincidence. In the end, it seems like the translators were having a lot of fun with Genshin Impact 4.0 and Fontaine. Plus, it’s funny to think that the team is full of Monty Python fans.
