Ghost Shells in Destiny 2, much like other more cosmetic items, have a record of being used primarily to show off your cool new styles and whatnot. However, some Ghost Shells are much more difficult to get your hands on than others and are quite rare. While some might have only been available in the Eververse store once a few years ago for some Bright Dust, others might require you to complete rather difficult challenges, but nonetheless, they’re still rare, and only a few Guardians have gotten their hands on them. Let’s take a look at the five rarest Ghost Shells in Destiny 2.
5. Astrologic Shell
The Astrologic Shell was initially released in Season 20, the Season of Defiance, and could only be obtained through the Eververse Store with an exchange of 2,000 Bright Dust. The Season of Defiance most definitely had a vibe to it, which the Astrologic Shell fits into perfectly. The styles and looks throughout the season are relatively dark and mysterious, and in some portions, even celestial, if you take into account the season’s armor set ornaments. If you were dedicated enough to unlock all the ornaments, the Astrologic Shell accents it well with its off-white and gold color scheme. The overall global rarity of the Astrologic Shell is only 0.082%.
4. Photoelectric Shell
While the Photoelectric Shell was released in Destiny 2‘s final season, Season of the Wish, it’s one that you shouldn’t overlook. While this bright red Ghost Shell could be obtained in the Photonic Machinery Bungle in the Eververse Store, it also made an appearance in the Bright Dust section for 2,000 Bright Dust. Though, it only made its way into the Bright Dust rotation once, so the chance of getting it without spending Silver is quite small, which is why only 0.058% of Guardians have the Photoelectric Shell.
3. Classy Shell
Like the previous Ghost Shell, the Classy Shell was also introduced during the Season of the Wish. The options for purchasing this shell are really limited to your chances of seeing it pop up in the Eververse Store’s rotation. The Classy Shell can be purchased for 600 Silver or, if you’re lucky enough, 2,000 Bright Dust. Given the name of the Ghost Shell, it’s probably no surprise that the Classy Shell was introduced during the 2024 Guardian Games event and fits the style quite well. Featuring blue, red, and gold colors, equipping this Ghost Shell will have you looking like one of the classiest contenders at the games. Only 0.034% of Guardians have gotten their hands on this shell.
2. Tasseled Shell
The Tasseled Shell is another one of the Ghost Shells introduced during the Season of the Wish and was around in time for the 2024 Guardian Games event. This Ghost Shell appears in the same red, blue, and yellow colors but also features tassels hanging off the sides of it. The Tasseled Shell was only available for a short period of time, making it pretty tricky to get your hands on if you weren’t around for the short weeks of the Guardian Games. It was available to purchase from Tess Everis at the Eververse Store for either 600 Silver or 2,000 Bright Dust. Currently, only 0.009% of Guardians have the Tasseled Shell.
1. Padded Armor Shell
The rarest Ghost Shell in Destiny 2 takes us back to the Season of Defiance once again, where the Season 20 Padded Armor Shell was initially released. This shell for Ghosts who gear up to play rough features a unique armor-like appearance in black, blue, yellow, and red and looks like it can definitely take a few hits. The Padded Armor Shell was introduced into Destiny 2 in time for the 2023 Guardian Games event and was only available for a short time period. If you were around during the event, you could purchase the Padded Armor Shell for either 600 Silver or 2,000 Bright Dust. Along with the Tasseled Shell, the Padded Armor Shell is only owned by 0.009% of Guardians.
