Tori Spelling reveals the terror that she and her five children experienced while evacuating Los Angeles to escape the out-of-control wildfires as they continue to destroy the California city.
Former Beverly Hills 90210 star Tori Spelling admits she waited until the last moment to flee her Woodland Hills rental home with her five children. Tori took to Instagram to share her terrifying experience with her followers.
The 51-year-old single mother of five details the frightening details leading to her family’s evacuation. Tori Spelling opens her post by writing, “The post I didn’t want to have to do… days of watching destruction and monitoring and living in fear.“
Like thousands of other residents of Los Angeles, Tori Spelling and her children, Liam, 17, Stella, 16, Hattie, 13, Finn, 12, and Beau, 7, were left with no other options but to leave their home and belongings behind.
“I tried my best to hang in there and not just flee to flee, but we had to finally. My hearts are w/everyone who have lost and suffered so much. But, as a mama bear w/5 kiddos & fur babies, your gut tells you when it’s time to take action,” Tori writes.
Tori Spelling Credits Late Dad Aaron Spelling For Keeping Her Family Safe
Tori Spelling admits her hesitation was a mistake. One that luckily played out in favor of her large family. She shares how she barely fit her five children, three large dogs, a cat, and a ferret into the family SUV at the spur of the moment. Tori says, “Friends who care told me for days to pack and have a plan. I should have listened,” she wrote.
Because she waited and failed to prepare, she states her family left in haste. Tori says they left with only an armful of photo albums and the clothes on their backs. In her panic, she had no plan of escape or idea of where she and her children would go for shelter.
Thankfully, Tori was able to reach her friend Jami Schwartz, who works with @airbnb. Schwartz secured shelter for Tori and her terrified family and pets. However, making the trip turned out to be very stressful for Spelling.
Tori was able to calm her anxiety and allow her ‘mama bear’ instincts to kick in. She ensured her children everything would be fine. Driving into the fire, Tori ordered her children to take a deep breath and hold and put T-shirts over their noses and mouths. “This is scary but hopeful. We will drive thru it and past. It will be ok. I promise you all. ”
The exhausted family made it safely to their destination, with Tori Spelling expressing gratitude to her late father, Aaron Spelling. “We are safe. Woke up to koi pond & a monarch butterfly sanctuary. Thanks, Dad!“
Tori Spelling’s frightening evacuation nightmare comes just 24 hours after reports reveal that Tori’s mom, Candy Spelling, was among the long list of celebrities who have lost their homes.
