The lack of consideration neighbors can have for each other is oftentimes baffling, and one unfortunate Kansas family learned the hard way that their next-door occupants were more of the toxic type. Having moved into the neighborhood just a few months ago, the homeowner had yet to meet the landlord or tenants next door. But it wasn’t long before hired roofers suddenly showed up and turned the front yard and garden into a landfill, intentionally.
For anyone thinking the next-door neighbors or roofers were confused as to who owned the yard, things were quite clear. As the homeowner put it, “They weren’t confused… they knew it was our property. I talked to them.” Upset by the whole ordeal, they rightfully called the police to document what was going on, then posted the situation to r/mildlyinfuriating. “They even took off our gate we had to stop our dog from leaving our yard,” OP moaned.
If what the neighbors let the roofers do to the next-door family’s property wasn’t enough, things get more frustrating. “They wouldn’t say if the seller or buyer is having it done, wouldn’t give me a name, said they arent even hired. Its a favor,” explained OP. “I got more and more pissed as they talked honestly.” It’s clear that the roofers simply don’t want to pay the disposal fee, so they’re using the adjacent yard as their ‘free’ landfill.
This situation must be quite discouraging for OP and their family, considering how just a few months back, their account showed posts of the Redditor celebrating finally buying a cozy home for a solid price. In the current economy, this is more or less a miracle for average Joes and Janes. But now, they’re picking up “nails and glass in the yard here and there” as plenty of other roof debris piles up on their property.
It’s an awful safety hazard for their children and pet dog, no doubt. Hopefully, the police help sort things out, and the neighbor compensates the family for their terribly inconsiderate and toxic behavior.
