There are many ways one could die, but some are more terrible than others. In fact, some people live their entire lives hoping that they will die in a normal way. This didn’t happen with an unlucky New York 61-year-old man who died inside an MRI machine. The poor man was sucked into the machine because he was wearing a large metal chain. This was enough to draw the machine in, especially since it had a strong magnetic field. This horrible incident took place at a medical office in Westbury, Long Island, New York. Unfortunately, some blame could be put on the deceased because he was at fault.
According to NBC News, the New York man entered the MRI room without authorization. This is why none of the medical staff warned him that he couldn’t go there while wearing a metal chain. The publication also reported that the police said that the necklace caused him “to be drawn into the machine which resulted in a medical episode.” He later died from the injuries he sustained. The whole situation is unfortunate, especially since it could have been easily avoided if the man had been careful. His wife, however, claimed that she asked the technician to bring her husband inside the MRI room so that he could help her get up. If this is the case then the technician is also at fault. She also mentioned that the chain was 20 pounds. This is more than enough to cause what happened.
People Reacting to the New York Man’s Death
People were divided on whether they should blame the New York man or not. There was someone who claimed that the wife was lying because she wanted to get money through a lawsuit. Someone else had a different story as they said, “Yeah the other initial reporting I read said that she was ‘screaming in pain’ and that the techs told him don’t go in there, it’s unsafe and he pushed past them to go in anyways. Which sounds a lot more like Long Island to me.” This might be reasonable, especially since the wife also said that the technician saw the chain beforehand. It’s almost impossible that a technician would be aware of such a big chain and still allow him to go in. This made someone say, “I believe the story right up till the wife said the tech let him in anyway. Techs will call another tech to help. I think the husband just walked in without being screened first.”
Aside from what exactly happened, others focused on how unfortunate this was. “Well, that’s a horrific and deeply stupid way to die,” one person wrote. Someone else replied and joked by saying, “Imagine your friends asking how he died. What do you say? Drip too hard?” Another person also wrote, “He died how he lived Stubborn and sparkling.” The comments coming after the dead guy kept going as several people were blaming him. “Better title: Boomer ignores warnings on door and gets first hand experience with extreme magnetic forces. EVERY MRI I have had, the door has been posted with clear warning signs NOT to enter with anything metal due to the dangerously strong magnetic fields in the room,” one Redditor wrote. No matter what exactly happened, may he rest in peace.
