Travis Kelce is making headlines yet again, but not because of his budding relationship with Taylor Swift. The NFL tight end who has become a Hollywood sweetheart showed a side to him that isn’t so pleasant during a training session gone wrong.
After months away following the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl win, Kelce returned to training camp earlier this week. During a session on Wednesday, things got out of hand between him and one of his teammates. It happened that wide receiver Kadarius Toney was hit and slammed to the ground by defensive end George Karlaftis after catching a pass from Patrick Mahomes. Although tackles are part of the game, many teammates were displeased by Karlaftis’s shot because they weren’t in full pads yet. His move could have resulted in an injury for Toney, and Kelce didn’t like that.
After Toney threw a ball at Karlaftis in anger, Kelce charged from the other end of the field. A video from practice showed Swift’s boyfriend exchanging words with Karlaftis. At one point, the 34-year-old got into the 23-year-old’s face, making things heated. Kelce proceeded to shove Karlaftis, but the rest of the team intervened before things escalated.
Fans Lament Travis Kelce Always Getting Into A Fight
A video of the incident circulated on the Internet, eliciting different reactions from fans. Many slammed Kelce for picking a fight with his teammate. “Tell Mr. Swift’s to pipe down; this is football,” remarked one fan. Another fan wondered, “Why does Travis Kelce always get into fights?” A third comment read, “Kelce is so soft. This is football, and Toney needs to earn his spot. Take a hit and keep playing. Kelce is a bum.” A fourth fan even brought the athlete’s girlfriend into the mix, writing, “Kelce’s anger issues showing again. Poor Taylor…“
This isn’t the first time Kelce has gotten into a scuffle with his teammate on the field. Per Page Six, last year, the Ohio native punched Jack Cochrane for trying to take the ball from his hands. The New Heights podcast co-host later addressed the issue, saying his anger got the best out of him. Travis Kelce might need to tame his anger issues before he lands in trouble.
