Swifties lookout, the Eras’ queen has one unexpected competition! Long before Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce became a thing, the athlete already had his eyes set on the crooner, but not in the way you might think. The duo confirmed their romance in September 2023 after months of speculation. Several games and concerts later, they’ve become unarguably the most famous couple in the world, representing the thin line where sports meet pop. With the ever-increasing obsession for everything Traylor, the internet managed to unearth an 8-year-old clip of Travis Kelce rating his interest in Taylor among celebrities like Katy Perry during a “Kill, Marry, Kiss” game.
Travis Kelce Picks Katy Perry Over Taylor in “Kill, Marry, Kiss” Game
In the video, Travis Kelce sat to a game of “Kiss, Marry, Kill” with Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and Katy Perry as contenders. When the host of the Afterbuzz TV station prompted the athlete to pick between the three celebrities, Travis evidently had a hard time. He started off by saying, “That’s messed up,” adding he did not want to kill any of them. With the host making it clear the game required him to make those choices, Travis did, opting to kill Ariana Grande, Kiss Taylor Swift, and marry Katy Perry. He voiced,
“Ariana I’d kill, unfortunately. Love you, but you’re gone. And then Taylor Swift would be the ‘kiss,’ and Katy Perry… Katy Perry would be ‘marry.'”
Who knew eight years later, the athlete would snag his chance to kiss Taylor, not once, but as many times as one could say the word “love.”
Travis Roasted Over Old Interview
The world has witnessed the lovebirds put on their giddy display of affection in public, with engagement and wedding speculations looming. Yet, Swifties are beginning to reconsider rooting for a Traylor union, deeming Travis Kelce “not into Taylor Swift.” Reacting to an excerpt from the clip shared on X, one user wrote,
“Obviously he wasn’t that into her. What happened that changed that?”
Another remarked,
“Man is he young and stupid. Lol.”
A third reacted,
“The song Taylor will eventually sing about him will now be called ‘Oopsie.'”
Some fans even chipped in possible lyrics of a new Taylor Song inspired by the “Kill, Marry, Kiss” game should a Travis Kelce breakup happen. One Reddit user implied the athlete only considered having Taylor in his life because of her fame, as she looked nothing like his type. The fan added,
“It doesn’t take a resurfaced video to know that Kelce’s type has typically not looked like Taylor.”
Another user agreed, saying,
“He looks like such a douchey frat boy in that . He seems hella immature for his age. I don’t see him committing to a LTR.”
Being in the spotlights, Taylor and Travis are not new to such comments about their relationship. In months past, the lovebirds have faced theories suggesting they were faking their romance for clout or into each other for all the wrong reasons. Some go as far as pointing out all the red flags in their relationships, even tagging Travis as a walking red flag. But can an 8-year-old video determine where a person’s heart truly lies?
