Former President Donald Trump once again turned his attention to Vice President Kamala Harris, calling for her to take a cognitive test in his latest X post. Trump’s challenge came just weeks after Harris released a glowing health report, but that didn’t stop him from questioning her mental fitness. As expected, the internet had plenty to say.
Indeed, Trump’s recent X post is generating serious heat. Some users remained steadfast in their support, declaring, “that’s my president,” in response to the latest jab. But others didn’t let Trump’s attack go unchallenged. Another hit back with a sarcastic jab: “VP Harris isn’t the one rambling on about sharks, windmills, whales, and batteries, you unserious goofball. 🥴”
Another user doubled down on Trump’s rhetoric, writing, “Kamala just needs to go. Somebody show her the door already for goodness sake!” It was a sentiment echoed by many Trump supporters, as the former president’s base continues to see Harris as a weak link in the Biden administration.
But it wasn’t all cheers from Trump’s corner. The call for a cognitive test raised some eyebrows, especially as it comes from a man known for his meandering speeches and unusual fixations. Harris, meanwhile, has largely ignored the noise, sticking to her own agenda. And while her cognitive abilities have not been in question in any formal capacity, Trump’s repeated focus on such tests has become a recurring theme, as he previously issued the same challenge to President Joe Biden.
It’s worth noting that Trump has a history of throwing cognitive tests into the political fray, despite having delivered some of the most famously meandering speeches himself, covering topics as varied as wind turbines and sharks. Yet, for many of his supporters, these moments only add to his charm. For much of his supporters, though, no test is needed. Trump’s word is enough.
As the race for 2024 heats up, it’s clear that Trump’s strategy will continue to revolve around questioning the mental fitness of his opponents, even if it means stirring up more social media frenzy along the way. Whether or not Harris feels the need to respond remains to be seen, but if X’s reaction is any indicator, this latest episode has only added fuel to the ever-burning fire of American political discourse.
