If there is one person who would choose to be racist during Black History Month, it has to be Trump. He has been receiving a lot of outrage after he posted a disgusting and racist video on Truth Social. The video was a short one that was about yet another election conspiracy. Its ending, however, was quite disturbing. At the end of the video, both former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama were depicted as monkeys. There is absolutely nothing that would justify this or make it look okay. This is clear racism. Guess what, though? The White House was quick to defend Trump.
In a statement sent to Deadline, Karoline Leavitt came to Trump’s defense. “This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from The Lion King. Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public,” she said. It’s hard to see it as a coincidence that the video is depicting two Black individuals as monkeys out of all animals.
Several political figures also found the video wrong. Gavin Newsom himself wrote on X, “Disgusting behavior by the President. Every single Republican must denounce this. Now.” According to The Guardian, political strategist Adam Parkhomenko also wrote, “This is overt racism. Full stop. There’s no ‘misinterpretation’ and no excuse. This is who he is, who he’s always been, and why he should never be anywhere near power again.”
People Reacting to Trump’s Racist Video
It wasn’t only politicians like Newsom who were upset by Trump’s racist video since thousands of people expressed their outrage. For example, one person wrote, “The Obamas need to sue Trump.” Another person said, “During Black History Month mind you. Trump is a racist.” Others quickly guessed that no one would hold Trump accountable as someone wrote, “Spoiler alert: Nobody on the right will say anything about it.” This made another person reply, “All while claiming trump is not a racist.” One TikTok user also said, “They will love it. They won’t say a word in argument to it, they will support it. It’s that bad and it’s that low.”
Others started saying that Trump shared the racist video on purpose as one person said, “he hates President Obama cause he will never be as amazing as him. Also Trump has nothing to hold over Obama so he resorts to racism.” Another person claimed that Trump did this because he allegedly has dementia. “My dad has dementia too. Whatever filter he had left has left the building! He’s a demon,” they wrote. Someone else said that since Trump is getting away with everything, any upcoming president would be the same. “I assume Donald Trump will be the base for all future presidents where they can do and say whatever they want, without limit, without any repercussions,” they said. It’s definitely heartbreaking that the president doesn’t have a problem posting such a disturbing video.
