Walmart is well-known as a market built around discount retail, making it attractive for people who are looking to save money on groceries. That’s why influencer Damon Darling made his recent mission to help some people out in a Walmart in Ohio by paying for their groceries. Walmart, however, didn’t like what he did and had him kicked out and banned. Now, people are up in arms against Walmart.

Darling shared footage of his latest confrontation on TikTok on August 7, with the video reportedly surpassing 2.6 million views. In the clip, a Walmart employee tells Darling he cannot enter the store. Darling questions the decision, explaining that he had been buying groceries for people and that local police and a store manager had previously allowed him inside.

The employee then disputed Darling’s account, saying the woman he had spoken with was not the store manager and may have permitted him to enter by mistake. Darling continued to argue that his goal was simply to help customers struggling with inflation and high grocery prices. The employee appeared sympathetic but maintained that Darling needed to leave because Walmart is private property.

According to eyewitness information, police also served Darling with lifetime trespass warnings that reportedly prohibit him from entering Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Murphy USA locations. The officer allegedly told Darling that the company was not required to provide a specific reason for the ban. Darling questioned the decision and indicated that he could have his lawyer challenge it. However, the precise reason for the ban has not been publicly established.

People online want a Walmart boycott

The uncertainty has fueled even more debate online, with some users demanding answers from Walmart while others questioned whether Darling has disclosed the entire story. “We should all boycott until they let him back in,” a TikTok user wrote. Others struggled to understand why Walmart would object to the transactions. “Why does matter who pays? The company isn’t losing money,” questions another TikTok user.

Another user asked, “how can buying someone’s groceries be illegal? seriously.” Due to the rather suspicious nature of the ban, some commenters even threw politics into the mix, with one of them accusing the Walmart employee of being a “Trump supporter…doesnt want poor people getting any help.”

Meanwhile, a TikTok user claimed their brother is a Walmart market manager and said he planned to raise the situation with a regional manager. For now, Walmart’s specific reason for banning Darling remains unclear. That unanswered question has become central to the backlash, with supporters portraying the comedian’s grocery giveaways as charitable acts and critics asking whether there is additional context behind the retailer’s decision.
