There’s no one more salty about Jimmy Kimmel‘s return than President Donald Trump. The politician was on a power trip after the late-night host was indefinitely canceled and likely thought it was a huge win for MAGA. After all, it was evident to many that the administration and the FCC had a foothold on Disney’s decision-making. But after losing billions of dollars and countless Plus subscribers, the mega corporation let ABC put Kimmel back on air. Trump, however, is not happy.
Crashing out on Truth Social, the President of the United States threw a tantrum in a recent post that “ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back.” It’s ironic, seeing how he was praising them days ago. Trump continued his tirade, saying how Kimmel is talentless and not funny on his “99% positive GARBAGE Democrat” show. Before concluding with more name-calling and bashing, the businessman put on his ‘tough guy’ act by threatening to sue ABC, aka Disney, for putting Kimmel’s show back on:
“I think we’re going to test ABC out on this. Let’s see how we do. Last time I went after them, they gave me $16 million. This one sounds even more lucrative.”
Now, regardless of whether this is a bluff or an actual scheme to extort a media company, people were still shocked to hear that the President would act this way, despite all the outrage he has induced thus far. “I can’t believe this is real. We live in Hell,” remarked a Reddit user. Another chimed in, pointing out how Trump is the perfect example of “why narcissists should never ever ever be in positions of power.” A third added in disbelief, “The president is extorting companies in front of the entire world.”
The fact that Jimmy Kimmel was taken down at all, even temporarily, was still technically a win for MAGA. This wasn’t just a simple case of people coming together to cancel a prominent figure. It was reportedly a deliberate abuse of power by the Right-leaning US government to punish someone speaking out against their narrative. Many have pointed out how Jimmy Kimmel didn’t even criticize Charlie Kirk in his comment, but was challenging MAGA for using his assassination as political leverage. Whatever the case, the comedian is back up now, and the right is furious, along with the President’s embarrassing statement to possibly sue Disney’s ABC in a sore-loser attempt to rile up the masses.
Though, it is rather ironic how, by trying to get Kimmel canceled, MAGA drew some of the media’s and public’s attention from Kirk’s tragic death to a late-night show host.
