After being stuck in development for nearly a decade, Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones is finally ready to set sail. The pirate-themed RPG was first announced way back in 2017, and after six years of delays and developmental hurdles, Ubisoft has announced that Skull and Bones will be docking on February 16th, 2024. This new release date fits with their previous estimates that the game would be released in the first quarter of next year, but it’s always nice to put a concrete date on a game’s launch day. Skull and Bones Release Date Announced for February 2024
Given that Skull and Bones was first announced six years ago, fans have been hopeful for a release date for quite some time. Unfortunately, the game has also been through a number of delays that pushed the release date back to 2019, then 2020, then 2023, and a final delay came earlier this year when Ubisoft revealed they were targeting a 2024 fiscal release. Barring any further delays, it looks like they’ll be holding to that promise with a February 2024 release.
Gameplay-wise, it’s not hard to see why fans are excited for Skull and Bones. Following the success of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Ubisoft was probably scrambling to get another pirate-themed game on the market. Skull and Bones reportedly works in more multiplayer features than Black Flag did, similar to Microsoft’s Sea of Thieves, but if the core gameplay remains unchanged, fans can likely expect another quality adventure on the high seas.
