Several studios have already released their roadmaps for some of their games this year, and the latest one to join them is Ubisoft. The company has unveiled the roadmap for the Assassin’s Creed franchise today, talking about existing games, a few upcoming ones, a surprise 60 FPS patch for one title, and the confirmation of the long-awaited Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake. That’s right, all hooded assassins will feast soon because 2026 seems like a promising year for the series.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake Confirmed Alongside Two Games Being Developed
Today, Ubisoft released a long post titled “Assassin’s Creed: Into 2026,” and as you can imagine, it outlines the company’s plans for the franchise.
For starters, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is approaching the one-year mark, and we all know that the parkour challenge is coming, as well as other updates, so it is an excellent time to join in this recent duo-protagonist story for a few more adventures.
In terms of new games, Codename HEXE is in development, and Ubisoft promises a darker, narrative-driven Assassin’s Creed experience set in an important period of history, which sounds pretty interesting. However, Jean Guesdon, the creative director for HEXE, notes that the team will be quiet for a while as it works on this title.
We are taking the time to deliver on its ambitious vision, which means we’ll be quiet for a little longer, but we love seeing all the enthusiasm happening on our channels and can’t wait to unveil more when the time is right.
Beyond that, the PvP-focused title, Codename INVICTUS, is also progressing steadily. Guesdon also mentions that they are approaching this with a “test and learn” mentality, and that the team is excited for what will come. And on top of that, other projects such as Assassin’s Creed Jade are still in the works. There’s also mention of co-op returning to the franchise, but the post didn’t explicitly say to what it referred.
But now, the big reveal: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which, yes, is the remake. We all heard the rumors, but we now have official confirmation that it is in the works. There isn’t any more information for this, but we’re just glad that Edward is coming back again.
Then we also got a teaser for the live-action project, with the post noting that we might get more information soon. But another big surprise was the announcement of a 60 FPS patch for Assassin’s Creed Unity on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, coming tomorrow. That’s pretty exciting, as this is one of the most beautiful games in the franchise, and current-gen console players will get to experience it in a smoother way.
In truth, 2026 looks great for Assassin’s Creed. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait long for the remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag and the other projects. While we don’t mind leaping into Shadows again, we can’t wait to try any of these new titles that the studio is cooking up.
