Marvel has unleashed a new trailer for the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man #1. It also unveiled several variant covers for the issues, as well as some interior artwork. The series, penned by Jonathan Hickman with art from Marco Checchetto, is set to turn the lore of Spider-Man on its head. As part of the new Ultimate line, this series will see different versions of classic Marvel characters. It will also see new background and origin stories for these characters, including Peter Parker.
Ultimate Spider-Man
The new trailer for Ultimate Spider-Man features new artwork from the series and a glimpse into some re-designed characters. It introduces the world to this version of the Parker family, including Peter, his wife Mary Jane, and their two kids. The series will follow Peter Parker who lived a normal life after the Maker used time travel to make a world with no heroes. So, Peter chose wedded bliss and diapers over web-slinging and near-death experiences. However, that is all about to change.
The trailer gives a peak at a new origin story for Spider-Man. It looks like a catastrophe involving Aunt May and another radioactive arachnid forces this adult Peter into the world of heroics. New art in the trailer shows Spider-Man taking on a redesigned Kingpin and Green Goblin. Will this new origin story change how Peter handles the Spidey-gig? That is exactly what this Ultimate Spider-Man series explores.
Hickman’s New Take On An Old Classic
In discussing the Ultimate Universe and this Ultimate Spider-Man series, Jonathan Hickman really wanted to shy away from what readers may expect. As they tackled a Peter Parker who begins his superhero journey from a different place, they really wanted to lean into that difference. Especially considering this is a Peter Parker who is married and has two kids to keep safe. This makes Ultimate Spider-Man a truly different Spidey adventure.
