Don’t you just love it when someone calls out a thief right on the spot? There’s something oddly satisfying about watching a confrontation, especially when the guilty party scrambles to deny it.
That’s exactly what happened at the Los Angeles LAX Airport when a Los Angeles woman got caught red-handed with a stolen phone charger. According to a now-viral video, the owner of the charger begins filming as he searches the terminal, asking fellow travelers if they saw his charger, which he had left plugged into a nearby outlet.
That’s when one bystander points directly at a woman seated just feet away and says, “She took it.” The owner then walks over and confronts her, and that’s where things get awkward. Without missing a beat, the woman insists the charger came from her own bag.
But here’s the kicker: she clearly doesn’t expect to be called out, and even worse, she’s old enough to know better. Imagine reaching that age and still stealing a charger like it’s nothing. Embarrassing.
The owner then tells the Los Angeles woman that the charger has a screen on it. Guess what? She didn’t know that. So if it is really yours, how do you not even know what it looks like? “It’s mine,” he says and her reply is quite obnoxious. She simply smiles and says, “It’s not.” She then says that it is hers. When he asks her where she bought it from, she says that her daughter gave it to her. Her attitude then changes as she tells him, “Why did you leave it? You should never leave it.” So it’s okay to take someone’s property just because they left it for 10 minutes? What about being a decent human who doesn’t take what doesn’t belong to them? Her audacity continues as she then tells him, “That is how it is. You don’t leave anything at the airport.”
The woman then continues claiming that the charger is hers, even though the owner told her that he paid $40 for it at Target. One of the people sitting there also confirms that she took it. She still keeps her claims going, which is honestly annoying. “Let’s go check the cameras. Let’s go to security,” he says when she keeps repeating that he shouldn’t leave things unattended. Instead of being scared, she decides to smile. I have never seen a thief who is that obnoxious. When the owner tells her, “It’s petty theft,” her response is even more obnoxious. “I understand but that is how it is.” When you start thinking that the guy will never get his charger back, she asks him if he wants her to give it to him. Ummm, yeah? Finally, the guy takes his charger and leaves. Unbelievable.
People Reacting to the Los Angeles Woman’s Theft
Everyone found that the Los Angeles woman was unbelievable. Her audacity was unmatched. One person commented on the fact that she is behaving this way despite being old. “Stealing a charger at 80 is wild,” they wrote. Another person also said, “gotta watch them older ones sneaky.” Since she mentioned that she had a daughter, which could be a lie, someone commented on what her kids might be like when she is like this. “Imagine the type of people she raised. Smh…,” they wrote. It won’t be surprising if even her kids acted similarly. Another pointed out how she didn’t even know what the charger looked like, as they said, “She didn’t even know it had a screen.” It’s crazy that she didn’t know that and yet kept claiming that she was the owner.
Some people also believed that the Los Angeles man should have reacted differently and that he was way too patient. “You gave her too much of a chance. I would’ve called the cops right away and then have her arrested,” one person wrote. Another person said, “I would snatch that charger so quick from her smug little self.” I wasn’t the only one who found her smile obnoxious because someone wrote, “It the smile that kills me.” One TikTok user also mocked the woman by saying, “She basically said Finders keepers.” Surprisingly, there was one person who believed that the thief had a point. “She is correct thoo don’t leave things unattended. Especially in a airport,” they wrote. That’s simply insane. At least the guy got his charger back after all of this.
