Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive Entertainment’s upcoming title Uncharted: The Lost Legacy has officially gone gold. The highly anticipated standalone in the Uncharted franchise is set for release at the end of August, and fans are more than excited to see series favorite Chloe Frazer (who was first introduced in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves) tackle her own adventure. Nadine Ross, who was first introduced in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, will also be a focal point of the upcoming spinoff.
Extended trailers and clips of gameplay have shown off the game’s beautiful setting, which is namely in the Ghats Mountains of India. In true Uncharted fashion, the footage we’ve seen has Chloe and Nadine battling enemies, experiencing plenty of near-misses with explosions and gunfire, and the great cinematic moments that we’ve been accustomed to. Of course, it wouldn’t be an Uncharted game if someone didn’t have to defeat a ruthless warlord…
One of the biggest mysteries surrounding the story of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is how Chloe and Nadine linked up in the first place. The two never directly crossed paths in the other Uncharted games, and in A Thief’s End, Nadine was (mildly) antagonistic toward Nate and Sam before ultimately turning on her partner, Rafe, in the end. The last we saw of Chloe was in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception after she escaped from Syria with Nate, Sully, and Cutter.
It will be interesting to see how Naughty Dog weaves their stories together and possibly add in some additional lore from the Uncharted franchise. Though they have stated Nathan Drake will not make an appearance in the game, the team could still potentially slip in some other surprise characters.
The length of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy could match that of previous games in the series and (depending on your own style of play, of course) could clock in at around 10 hours of gameplay. The Lost Legacy will release on August 22, 2017 exclusively for the PlayStation 4, at a retail price of $39.99USD. Those who pre-order the game will get Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.
