A woman in Miami, Florida, appears to have angered the internet when she revealed that she lost a new job she was excited about on just her second day. She made videos on TikTok talking about it and, according to her, she only wanted to share her experience. However, netizens reacting to her posts are slamming her, saying she has failed to take accountability for her mistakes.
The TikToker @bigsisrayy explained in her posts that she had recently started a new job but arrived about 30 minutes late on her first day. She said she had discovered that her driver’s license was suspended, so she notified her employer in advance that she would be late because she had to visit the DMV.
A similar situation occurred on her second day, though for a different reason. The TikToker said she arrived at work about five minutes late because she was dealing with severe menstrual cramps. She admitted that she did not send a text to let her employer know, as she assumed she could simply apologize once she arrived.
She stated that a few minutes after she clocked in, a staff member approached her to tell her that she was being let go.
“I didn’t know that [being five minutes late] would have got me fired,” the woman said. “They didn’t explain to me their attendance policy. And if it was so high to that extreme, I thought they would have made the brevity of that situation a little bit higher, quicker.”
While she acknowledged that arriving late on her second day without notifying her employer was her mistake, she argued that it should not be enough to get her fired. “They didn’t hear me out. They didn’t care for my reasoning,” she said.
