Currently, there are a lot of protests against ICE and its brutality. This has caused ICE and police to respond with violence as they try to fight back. The protesters, however, have been employing various methods of resistance. An example is that of an unfazed California skateboarder who was met with a lot of munitions, but he didn’t care. Police using munitions during the protests is nothing new, and people have different reactions to it. Most people choose to fight back or show their courage as they stand their ground, just like the California skateboarder did.
In a video filmed during one of the protests, you can see the innocent skateboarder simply crossing the street. He isn’t doing anything wrong; he is just walking. Despite this, police pelted him with munitions as if he were a criminal. They kept throwing projectiles at him, which engulfed him in smoke, but still, he didn’t run away. As the smoke starts to disappear, the guy looks back at the police and gives them his middle finger while still holding his skateboard. This is an excellent example that police, with all their weapons, will still find people resisting.
People Reacting to the California Skateboarder
Almost everyone was admiring the California skateboarder for how he shrugged off the munitions like they weren’t being thrown at him. One person described the young guy as a “Legend.” Someone else said, “BOSS F**k those mufuckas.” Another called this action “Metal af.” In addition to admiring the skateboarder, several people were left baffled by the fact that he was attacked for simply walking away. A conversation started on this topic as Reddit users said:
u/Agitated_Mess3117: “So they were pelting him because they thought he was rioting? I just see a dude walking. He needs to be paid for this.”
u/Reasonable-Nebula-49: “And a dude walking AWAY from them. How is that a threat?”
u/MC936: “Everything is a threat when you are insecure enough.”
One more person came after the forces for what they were doing. “Bitchass bullies with badges shooting that kid with all those projectiles while he’s not doing anything harmful. Absolutely psychotic behavior from LaW eNfOrCeMeNt,” they mocked. One Redditor who is also a skateboarder shared their own opinion as they wrote, “As someone that’s been skateboarding since I could walk (in my 40s now) that’s probably the least painful thing he’s experienced that week.” Based on the skateboarder’s reaction, I believe that what he is saying is true.
