It turns out you can run into a Karen just about anywhere, even in the scenic vineyards of Napa Valley. A group of Black women visiting California’s wine country for a birthday celebration found themselves on the receiving end of an unhinged encounter while simply taking photos during their outing.
According to the group, the peaceful moment was interrupted when a white woman approached them out of nowhere and immediately made a rude, unsolicited comment: “You guys have your butt cheeks sticking out.” Instead of keeping it moving, she escalated the situation by raising her voice, making sure everyone nearby could hear her disapproval.
Naturally, the group was upset and made it clear that they could match the energy if needed. But the woman still didn’t back down. Instead, she doubled down with yet another insult: “It’s just very trashy.”
That’s when one of the women had had enough and called her exactly what she was acting like: a “bitch.”
The California Karen wasn’t on her own because she also had her husband with her. He didn’t seem too excited, though, about being in this situation. The guy pulled his wife back before things escalated more and then told the group, “Let’s just relax.” I mean, your wife was the one who started it. One of the women shared a picture of their dresses, and they don’t look trashy at all. Even if they do, just keep this to yourself instead of causing a scene. After the White couple finally left, the woman shared that people at the front desk came up to them and apologized on her behalf. She should be the one to apologize and not them. The Karen also made sure to create a TikTok account, where she continued to defend herself and her actions. Nothing could justify harassing a group of women.
People Reacting to the Unhinged California Karen
Many people sided with the California women rather than defending the Karen. They believed that she was jealous of them, which made one woman write, “envy is a real thing.” Others mocked how the White woman was dressed as well. “I’d be mad too if I was wearing a madea dress,” one person wrote. Another person said, “While she In her dress that look like a moomoo.” Some comments also guessed that Karen’s husband was checking out the women and this is why she was upset. “Her husband was checking y’all out and she was mad,” one woman wrote. Someone else had the same opinion as they said, “She was mad bc I bet she caught her man looking at yall.” If that was the case, then she should have blamed her husband and not the poor girls.
When one of the California women posted a picture of their clothes, comments were divided. Some believed that the group’s attire looked normal. “the way she was going at it i would have thought yall were wearing a poster girl dress. I think yall look totally fine,” one person wrote. Another person said, “These are cute dresses! The people calling this club attire haven’t been to a club in 10 years.” Surprisingly, others believed that the Karen had a point after they saw the picture. “She wasn’t wrong. For the place and setting yeah it’s giving club/pool party,” someone commented. Even if the dresses weren’t appropriate, she had no right to act this way and say that they are trashy. That’s jealousy.
