Some people think that they have the right to treat DoorDashers or Uber Eats drivers terribly. That was what an unhinged Karen in California did. She had 480 water bottles delivered via Uber Eats and didn’t seem all that impressed when they showed up. The poor guy filmed himself loading up the dozens of water bottles inside his car as he headed to deliver the order. Of course, it’s reasonable for him to park in the driveway with such a heavy order. The woman, however, didn’t like that. She claimed that he ran her plants over with his car. When the Uber driver went to show where the plants were, it turned out that the only damage was a single twig. Other than that, the plants looked completely okay.
The California Karen didn’t like what happened to the twig. She then claimed that the driver scraped the fence as well, but there appeared to be no fence near the plants. Rather than understand that it was a mistake, she started telling the driver that he didn’t need to pull up to her driveway to deliver the water. So she ordered 480 water bottles and expected him to park his car outside of her driveway and then go back and forth to deliver them? This is just unreasonable. She then told him “It’s really problematic to pull into the driveway.” So does she also not use her driveway because it’s problematic, or does this only apply to the driver? She then continued that legally he shouldn’t be on her private driveway. At this point, the Uber driver had had enough. He simply told her, “Got it,” and went back to his car and drove away with the water bottles.
In an update, it turned out that the Karen didn’t just talk to him about the plants. Before doing that, she banged on his window several times after he pulled into the driveway. In another part, he said that there was no reasoning with the Karen at all even though it was clear that he only damaged one twig. After he left, he contacted Uber Eats and told them that he wasn’t able to deliver the water. However, it gets even more interesting. He then claimed that he was later contacted by Uber’s insurance adjuster and was informed that the Karen filed a property damage claim against him. She also claimed that she was going to sue him. The driver didn’t provide updates anymore because he is still waiting to hear back from Uber. If she sues him, it would be legally better for him not to post any more updates.
People Reacting to the Unhinged California Karen
Once people saw how the California Karen acted, the majority agreed that she was unhinged. Many started saying how they would have reacted if this had happened to them. “Immediate return to store,” one person wrote. Another person said, “‘Customer refused delivery’ leave & return it.” Someone else added, “Drop them off in the street. She can get them to her private porch herself.” There was another person who tried to defend the Karen, as they said, “He hit the bushes that is the issue. He hit her property. Did anyone actually watch the video?” This made one woman reply, “She also admits it’s extremely tight, so if she didn’t advise of that in the notes before delivery then she’s got no defense.” That’s a good point.
One TikTok user shared a similar experience, saying, “Yep! I had a customer whose notes say ‘DO NOT use my driveway, park on street and walk.’ This driveway was ¼ long. I her stuff at the end of the driveway, messaged her that it’s either that or the order will be returned. She was so mad, and I told her I didn’t care! You’re not gonna make someone walk back and forth all day to deliver your crap! Anyway, I got her order again, and I knew it was her, so I accepted it just so that I could drive to her house again, mark the return and return her order.” Since people said she should have written something in the notes, the driver had to say, “Nothing in the notes. I even saw her waiting for me and we both waved at each other I thought that was my okay… one time exception for the half ton of water.” So she basically expected him to carry all these packs. That’s insane, right?
