Even though many educators are not fans of electronics in the classrooms, laptops have become an integral part of studying and taking notes. Yes, you can still use the traditional pen and paper to do this, but have you been in a college lecture lately? How are you expected to keep up if you manually write down your notes? You’re bound to miss things that way. Fortunately, one student decided to make his professor, who doesn’t allow laptops in his class eat his words. The entire interaction was recorded and then posted to Reddit.
The video is recorded from the back of a classroom. As the professor at the front of the classroom continues his lecture, there’s only one thing you can hear besides him: typing. However, since this professor banned laptops, the typing doesn’t come from a computer, but rather from a typewriter. For every letter that needs to be typed, you can hear the incredibly loud, echoing sound of the keys. You can even see that the professor has to stop occasionally because he gets so distracted.
Other students in the class are also annoyed as he continues to type, especially when the platen reaches the end. He simply readjusts it so he can continue taking his notes. The comments are filled with users both praising the man for his compliance and criticizing him for his annoying actions.
“malicious compliance”
Others agree that this is probably the event that will cause the professor to change his mind. I mean, it really isn’t very considerate of other students who probably don’t have an issue with the laptop ban.
“Awesome way to change his mind.”
Ideally, the professor would remove the ban to allow students more accessibility when taking notes. However, I get the feeling that he didn’t do that and somehow found a way to make his student’s lives even harder.
