A woman from Downey, California, posted a video that’s gone viral, accusing a pet clinic in the area of allegedly dropping her dog, puncturing her aorta, and sending her into shock. The viral video was originally posted to the social media platform TikTok, where it skyrocketed in views, with some users leaving comments below with their opinions. Many comments also point to a larger discussion concerning what a person should do if this were to happen to them.
The original TikTok video features a woman who recounts how her dog was referred to an emergency vet hospital as a medical mystery after a visit to the pet clinic. She claims that the vet tech at the pet clinic she went to told her that her dog Peanut’s “gums are pale, her tongue is purple. She fell.”
An update has since been posted claiming that this happened because Peanut’s aorta was punctured while the veterinarian was collecting a urine sample. Reportedly, this sent her into shock, resulting in an IV and oxygen at an emergency hospital. She was allegedly needed to be held overnight for observation.
Ideally, a pet is expected to be cared for to the highest standard when at a clinic. It helps ensure that the relationship between the pet owner and the veterinarians and techs stays professional and helpful.
At this, one commenter replied with, “Your frustration is valid. I hope your baby gets better soon. ❤️“
Reactions to California Pet Clinic Reportedly Dropping Dog
According to Peanut’s owner, the vet costs have amounted to $7,000 as a result of this situation. She has created a GoFundMe in order to raise funds to cover the costs.
Users shared their opinions on the matter, with some recommending that legal action be taken. However, according to one of the updates, “I have consulted with multiple lawyers and they have all said I have no case which likely means no refund on any of her bills. I am maxing out credit cards pay for her vet bills which are now up to 7k and she is still hospitalized.“
In other updates, she visits the pet clinic in person to ask for the name of the business’s insurance company and to request clarifying details. Currently, it appears the situation is ongoing, with the original poster seeking a way for the pet clinic to cover Peanut’s hospital bills.
A video featuring Peanut being released from the hospital was also posted, showing viewers that she is okay.
