V Rising How to Unlock and Use the Athenaeum
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

The Athenaeum is a research workstation in V Rising used for discovering new high-tier recipes such as the Bloodmoon Armor Set and Sanguine weaponry. Similar to how the Research Desk requires Paper and the Study uses Scrolls, the Athenaeum costs Schematics for a single discovery. More specifically, Vampire adventurers must spend Schematics ×100 to unlock a new late-game recipe. Schematics can be found as container loot or mob drops, or they can be crafted through a Paper Press, a device that becomes available via the Study. To unlock and use the Athenaeum in V Rising, Vampires must track down and slay Raziel the Shepherd.

Unlocking the Athenaeum Guide and Boss Location V Rising

Raziel the Shepherd is a V Blood Carrier in V Rising located in the Dunley Monastery of the Dunley Farmlands. His level is set to 60, and he can deal massive holy damage. Before facing him, players are advised to craft several Holy Resistance Potion to endure his attacks. Once he’s defeated, the blueprint for the Athenaeum will become available.

To make the boss battle with Raziel the Shepherd slightly easier in V Rising, fans are recommended that combatants clear the room of trash mobs and environmental obstacles. This Carrier has several attacks with an AoE reach, so having enough space to dodge and avoid his abilities is crucial for survival. Nevertheless, once he’s dead, players can return to their Castle to construct their new research workstation, the Athenaeum. The Athenaeum requires the following for assembly:

  • Scrolls ×40
  • Scourgestones ×12
  • Reinforced Planks ×8

Scrolls and Scourgestones can be found in the wilderness or crafted within the Castle, while Reinforced Planks primarily are obtained from the Sawmill. After constructing the Athenaeum and placing it in a satisfactory location, players must procure Schematics to begin researching.

As mentioned above, Schematics can be randomly found in high-level zones. On the other hand, players can craft this resource once they’ve unlocked the recipe by defeating Matka the Curse Weaver, a Level 72 boss within the Cursed Forest. You might want to sharpen your legendary weapons for that one. After accumulating a hundred Schematics, players have a chance to discover the following recipes in V Rising:
