Ghosts are aggressive enemies in Valheim that players can find in the Burial Chambers located in the Black Forest. But as undead beings, what is the best way to defeat them? In this guide, you’ll learn all you need to know to quickly get rid of any spectral beings in your way.

How to Defeat Ghosts

Vlaheim Ghost

To defeat ghosts in Valheim, you need only equip a weapon that has fire. This could be your torch so you can lay in some quick fiery hits, or even some fire arrows would work exceptionally well. If you do go the ranged route, fire arrows require a few things before you can hurl them at unsuspecting ghosts.

To make fire arrows, you are going to need:

  • 8 Wood
  • 8 Resin
  • 2 Feathers

Wood is an easily obtainable resource that you can get from trees, tree stumps, and even branches on the ground. The feathers are attainable when you kill birds. However, the resin is a bit more complicated to get. You are going to have to target Greydwarfs, either Shamans or Brutes, and take the resin they drop.

After you’ve crafted a few, you can easily charge into the Burial Chambers and take out any ghosts in your path. They only require a few fire arrows to be taken down after all. Unfortunately, killing ghosts is not as profitable as many would like. Right now, ghosts do not drop anything when they are killed. Though this could change in the near future, the only thing ghosts are good for is their spook factor. However, as the Burial Chambers are the only place to get Surtling cores, defeating ghosts might be worth something after all.

As Surtling cores are required to build Blast Furnaces and Smelters, players looking to up their crafting game will have to visit many Burial Chambers. Just look out for the skeletons and ghosts that are lurking there.
