Since you won’t be very far into the game yet at this point, your best bet is to use a weapon that will both act as a defensive and an offensive choice. This will protect you and deal some pretty heavy damage in the process. In addition, you can pick up the accessories needed to evolve the Cross, Garlic, and the Song of Mana within the stage, so you have 3 extra Accessory slots to fill with other useful items.
