Jax Taylor has officially signed off to give Brittany Cartwright custody of their son Cruz amid their ongoing divorce.
According to legal documents obtained by Us Weekly, The Valley stars are moving forward with their split. Additionally, Jax signed on the dotted line, giving Brittany full legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old son.
The news shocked viewers, with some claiming the Vanderpump Rules alum never wanted custody in the first place. However, their reps addressed the claims, saying the pair resolved their family matters well before the news was shared with the world. “Jax and Brittany have already long resolved all matters related to custody of Cruz,” they said. “[They] will continue to work together privately for the best interest of their son, which remains their overriding concern.”
Will Jax and Brittany’s Marital Woes Be Shown on Season 2 of The Valley?
For those who have been keeping up with Jax and Brittany on The Valley, the current state of their relationship shouldn’t be a surprise. The pair revealed in February 2024 that they were experiencing marital troubles, ultimately leading Britt to leave their shared home.
“Jax and I are taking time apart,” Brittany said on her podcast When Reality Hits. “I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.” She continued, saying her biggest priority was continuing to be “the best mom to Cruz.”
In a later episode, Jax addressed his behavior from Season 1 of The Valley, saying something was “wrong with my brain.”
“I’m aware of that. I’m trying to figure that out,” he confessed.
In July 2024, it was confirmed that Jax checked into an in-patient treatment center. He left in August, and according to People, it was an “emotional month” for him. A rep for the reality star said, “Jax has always been candid about his mental health struggles, especially during the past few months on his podcast.” They continued, saying, “This is a particularly sensitive time for him and his family. They ask for privacy and respect until he is ready to speak more on this matter.”
Season 2 of The Valley began production in the summer of 2024. By the time cameras were rolling, Jax and Brittany were already headed for divorce. For that reason, fans will certainly see all of the marital and family drama play out between the two when the show returns in the new year. In the meantime, Bravo lovers can catch up on all of Season 1’s drama on Peacock.
