Vicki Gunvalson recently slammed the producers of the Real Housewives of Orange County. During a sneak peek clip of a new series, The Dark Side of Reality TV, Vicki looked back on learning of her mother’s death while filming the hit Bravo show.
In the 50-second clip shared by Vice, the reality star explained that she was filming at another cast member’s home during the emotional moment. She explained that her family members, including her son and daughter, kept trying to call her but couldn’t get in touch with her. Vicki continued, explaining they eventually spoke with the producers, who moved her into a separate room with cameras and lights. There, she learned of her mother’s passing via a phone call with her daughter, Briana.
“I was really upset that production knew for an hour, and they didn’t tell me,” Vicki said. “They were out of line, and I think they should have taken me aside and said, ‘Your mom has passed. Talk to your daughter off-camera.’ If I was a producer, that’s what I would’ve done.” The OG of the OC went on, calling the moment “traumatic” before saying she’d “never forgive Bravo” for their actions.
Fans Are Questioning Vicki’s Confusing 180
Fans of Vicki Gunvalson and the Real Housewives of Orange County are familiar with this emotional scene from Season 10. After it aired, the Bravo star appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. There, she discussed how challenging it was to let the cameras capture one of her most vulnerable moments. However, she pointed out that she signed up to share her life.
“I lost my mother, and I signed up for all areas of my life to be exposed, the good and the bad,” Vicki said. “There’s been a lot of great moments that have been aired and there’s a lot of moments that I wish wasn’t on a reality show. This is not a moment that I feel, as of right now, that I regret.”
“I don’t blame Bravo, I don’t blame [the production company], I don’t blame anybody,” she added. “It’s my life.”
Since the sneak peek of Vicki’s new interview was posted online, Real Housewives fans have been questioning the genuineness of her statement, especially considering her WWHL appearance.
“I love my girl Vick, but didn’t she say on WWHL that Bravo was nothing but gracious during that?”
Another user said Vicki’s back-and-forth behavior is where she “loses” them as a fan. A third user questioned why she chose to return to the show for additional seasons. “Did fame & being on TV mean that much to you that you kept coming back for more disrespect after this?”
There hasn’t been an official comment on Vicki’s remarks from Bravo yet. However, with Vicki’s status as one of the franchise’s biggest stars, a response could be coming sooner than we know.
