Justin Timberlake‘s past has come back to haunt him amid his recent DWI arrest. The singer made headlines on Monday after authorities picked him up in New York. Timberlake allegedly drove while under the influence after a night of partying in a hotel with friends. Authorities noticed something was wrong when the artist blew past a stop sign almost immediately after getting into his vehicle.
Once they pulled him over, Timberlake, who had “bloodshot/glassy eyes,” took a field sobriety test. He failed, and they took him into custody. The Cry Me a River singer has since been charged with one count of DWI and cited for running a stop sign and failing to keep in his lane. Amid what fans have termed as the downfall of Timberlake, a video from his past involving his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears has now resurfaced. The clip from the 2007 Brit Award shows Timberlake in a pre-recorded speech accepting his award and sending a warning about someone’s drinking habits. While pointing a finger at the screen, he said:
“Stop drinking. You know who you are. I’m speaking to you. Stop drinking, you’re going to get sloppy. OK! is going to say something bad about you.”

At the time, the media was heavily castigating Spears for shaving her head. Although Timberlake, years later, declared that his speech wasn’t targeted at his ex-girlfriend, many believe that isn’t true.
Britney Spears Fans Troll Timberlake: “You Reap What You Sow”
Following the circulation of the video, fans of Spears have shared their thoughts, mocking Timberlake for chewing his own words. “Sometimes karma takes her time, but baby, she always will find u,” one fan wrote while another penned, “And 17 years later, it ended up being him eating his own words; you reap what you sow.”
Referencing Timberlake’s hit song What Goes Around, this user tweeted, “What goes around goes around goes around comes all the way back around.” Another harsh remark read, “Aged like fine wine… or should I say ‘matured like great beer’…oops.”
Timberlake and Spears’ relationship from 1999 to 2002 has always been a sore spot for fans. In her 2023 memoir, the Toxic songstress revealed that he encouraged her to get an abortion and made her look like a “harlot who’d broken the heart of America’s golden boy.” Now, it seems Spears is the one doing all the laughing.
