Viral Comparison of California Halftime Show vs. TPUSA Event Sparks Internet Mockery: ‘Is Someone Stopping Him From Cutting His Grass?’

Kiss my fish

The San Francisco, California Super Bowl Halftime show has sparked recent controversy online. A TikTok Video comparing two wildly different performances, one of Bad Bunny’s official performance, and the other of the‘All-American Halftime Performance’ (an online concert produced by American right-wing nonprofit Turning Point USA (TPUSA) in protest of Bad Bunny’s performance) has left viewers tremendously amused.

The Video Contrast

The video opens with a high-energy snippet from the start of Bad Bunny’s halftime performance, then cuts sharply to country singer Lee Brice performing his song “It Ain’t Easy Being Country” at TPUSA’s event. From there, the video alternates between the two performances, highlighting a contrast so stark that commenters couldn’t help but pile on.

Bad Bunny’s segment delivers exactly what fans expect: catchy beats, dynamic choreography, and an arena-filling presence. The California crowd is filled with energy, the visuals are bold and colorful, and the performance is a full-on spectacle.

By comparison, Lee Brice’s performance is… subdued to say the least. He stands alone on a dark stage, strumming his guitar. His delivery is relaxed, and the crowd is quiet. The lyrics, no doubt intended to celebrate country living, sound suspiciously like substanceless AI slop. They instantly became fodder for internet mockery. He sings lines like “I just wanna drive my truck, drink my beer,” “I just wanna cut my grass,” and “I just wanna catch my fish” (which many viewers mishear as “kiss” his fish).

Commenters’ Reactions

The comment section does not disappoint. One TikTok user, yusukex3, summed up the general sentiment with: “‘It ain’t easy being country’ as he describes some of the easiest things you can do 💀.” Another commenter, grace.em_ joked, “like… is someone physically stopping him from cutting his grass and catching his fish???” Meanwhile, user illorie perfectly captured the contrast, writing “One was a vibe and the other was a list of chores.“

As the video goes viral, it’s a perfect example of how much the internet loves a good side-by-side. What could’ve easily flown under the radar as a simple lackluster performance is comedy gold compared to Bad Bunny’s full-blown spectacle.
